Brendy Barr is a specialist in news media relations and event publicity, with nearly 25 years of experience. She is an award-winning strategist of media relations programs on national, regional and local levels incorporating all aspects of press relations from coordinating media tours and editorial briefings, to planning and scheduling news conferences, to orchestrating and managing press room operations for major events, to story placement in print and electronic media.
Brendy assists clients in a variety of business areas including retail, automotive, restaurant/hospitality, entertainment, health, business-to-business, banking and law, and also provides PR support to non-profit organizations. Additionally, she is recognized for publicizing major events including the grand opening of the new Detroit Institute of Arts (November 2007) and the annual Comerica CityFest (formerly Comerica TasteFest).
Brendy has created and directed promotional programs for 7-Eleven, Blockbuster, Marriott International, The Fisher Theatre, Audi of America, TEC Detroit, glacéau’s vitaminwater, WAL-MART, General Motors, Cold Stone Creamery, California Pizza Kitchen, North American International Auto Show, Cirque du Soleil, Denso International, Chevrolet, Kmart, Ford Motor Company, Best Buy, Comerica Bank, Northwest Airlines, HUMMER, Kelly Services, Coca-Cola, Junior League of Detroit, Hiram Walker, Urban Science, Paint Creek Center for the Arts, Warner Norcross & Judd and Inforum (Women’s Economic Club of Detroit).
Before starting her agency in 1999, Barr was a vice president at the Detroit office of Shandwick International (WeberShandwick). She also served as director of media relations at Franco Public Relations Group for six years. Prior to this, she was director of public relations for Olympia Entertainment, Inc., management company for the Fox Theatre and Joe Louis and Cobo Arenas.
